Holmes Community College has named Jonathan Beasley as a new biology instructor on the Grenada Campus. A Natchez native with a strong background in science education and research, Beasley brings both experience and enthusiasm to his new role at Holmes.
Before joining the Holmes faculty, Beasley spent eight years teaching at Pillow Academy in Greenwood. His dedication to students and the sciences has been a consistent theme throughout his career. He holds an Associate of Arts from Copiah-Lincoln Community College, a Bachelor of Science, and a Master of Medical Sciences from Mississippi College.
While completing his graduate studies, Beasley served as a teaching assistant in both nursing and medical microbiology. He also completed extensive research focusing on potential medical uses of plant extracts native to the southeastern United States. These experiences deepened his passion for biology and sparked a desire to connect classroom instruction to real-world applications.
Outside of the classroom, Beasley is actively involved in his community. While living in Jackson, he regularly volunteered in the emergency room at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Since moving to Greenwood, he has become a member of First Baptist Church, where he serves on the live streaming crew.
When he’s not teaching or serving in the church, Beasley enjoys board games and the occasional fishing trip. Some of his favorite games include Trekking the National Parks, Qwirkle, and Sequence. He’s also looking forward to spending time on Grenada Lake and trying his hand at catching some of the local white perch.
Holmes is pleased to welcome Beasley to the Grenada Campus and is excited for the impact he will have on students in the sciences.
