Thompson brings more than 15 years of experience in public health and nursing to her new role at Holmes, with a background in long-term care, psychiatric nursing, nursing administration and case management.
She earned her nursing education from Southwest Mississippi Community College of Nursing. Thompson also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Alcorn State University, a Master of Public Health from Jackson State University and a Doctor of Healthcare Administration from Virginia University at Lynchburg.
Prior to joining Holmes, Thompson served as a clinical instructor at Southwest Mississippi Community College of Nursing. She also worked with Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center and Freedom Behavioral Health.
Throughout her career, Thompson has dedicated herself to educating and supporting future healthcare professionals while gaining extensive experience in various areas of nursing and public health.
“I’m excited to be a part of the Holmes family and helping to mentor and equip the new generation of future nurses,” Thompson said.
Thompson is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and enjoys reading historical fiction novels and autobiographies, participating in community service initiatives and maintaining an active lifestyle through fitness.
She and her husband, John, have three children: Mya, Jontavius and John Jr.
As a Practical Nursing instructor on the Ridgeland Campus, Thompson will provide classroom instruction, clinical guidance and mentorship to students preparing for careers in healthcare.
