GOODMAN, Miss. — Holmes Community College is offering evening welding courses at the Goodman Campus and Attala Center in Kosciusko this fall, providing individuals an opportunity to develop foundational welding skills and earn a certificate of completion.
The Kosciusko course begins on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and will be taught by Tim Townsend. The six-week course costs $250 and will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Space is limited.
The Goodman course begins on Friday, Sept. 18, and will be taught by Ben Lewis. The 10-week course costs $250 and will meet Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m. Space is limited.
Participants will be introduced to welding safety, equipment setup, electrode selection and classification, oxy-fuel cutting setup and operations, general fabrication and basic blueprint reading. Emphasis will be placed on proper technique, welding positions and setup operations.
Students who successfully complete either course will receive a certificate of completion.
Participants must provide their own personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, leather boots, a welding jacket or long-sleeved 100% cotton shirt, and denim jeans or 100% cotton pants. Tennis shoes are not permitted. Participants must be at least 18 years old.
