Wright named Outstanding Career Services Professional of the Year
Holmes Community College's Goodman/Grenada Campus Trek Coordinator Jonathan Wright received the 2017 Outstanding Career Services Professional of the Year Award during the Mississippi Association of Colleges and Employers (MACE) Annual Summer Conference held July 19-21 in Vicksburg.
The Outstanding Career Services or Co-op Professional of the Year recognizes the MACE college member, who through specific achievements or contributions to MACE, has exemplified outstanding professionalism, commitment and cooperation. These achievements and/or contributions may include work within MACE or within their institutions and contributions during continuous service to the profession. The recipient must have been a member of MACE for at least three years.
Wright has been with the Holmes Community College family for three years serving as Trek Center Coordinator at both Goodman and Grenada and has provided academic and career coaching for over 20 years.
While at Holmes, Wright has assisted with the design and implementation of the Trek program that includes various levels of student and program assessments while providing coaching to over 400 students. He also assisted in instructional design and curriculum development for a one credit hour four-week online course as part of the Trek program.
He has conducted more than 100 workshops for students, faculty and staff, served as the initial MiBEST Navigator for Holmes, presented at the Mississippi Community College Board Summer Conference, SkillsUSA and MACE Summer Conference as well as served on the MACE board and now serves as their two-year director.
Jonathan received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice/Juvenile Justice from Jackson State University and Master of Arts degree in Sociology also from Jackson State University. Wright is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in higher education from the University of Mississippi. He is a native of Hattiesburg and is married to Lakesha Wright. Jonathan enjoys cultural activities, jazz, chess, sports, traveling and trying foods from around the world.
