Holmes Community College faculty and staff recently selected the prestigious Hall of Fame winners for the 2024-25 academic year. The Hall of Fame recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance, leadership and community involvement. The recipients exemplify the college’s values of excellence and service. This year’s recipients include Houston Blair of Kosciusko, Mason Harrell of Flora, Jordan Leech of Winona, Janey Beth McRae of Winona, Bella Parker Roberts of Winona and Evan Yates of Kosciusko.
Houston Blair
Houston Blair, son of Christi and David Blair, is a chemical engineering major with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Blair is a President’s List Scholar involved in several clubs, including Phi Theta Kappa, Holmes Plus and Holmes Ambassadors. He’s also a tutor in Holmes’ STEM lab. Blair has also volunteered for the Natchez Trace Festival and is a member of First Baptist Church college group, as well. He works at the Attala County Bank, and after graduation, plans to attend Mississippi State University to earn his bachelor’s in chemical engineering and pursue a master’s degree.
Mason Harrell
Mason Harrell is the daughter of Hope and Kevin Ables, and Chris and Allison Harrell. She boasts a perfect GPA of 4.0 and is studying elementary education. Harrell has received numerous honors, including being listed on the President’s List and receiving the Elementary Education Award. She was also named Most Beautiful during Holmes’ 2024 Beauty Review. Harrell is active on campus as an Ambassador, secretary of Student Government Association and as a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She is also a work-study in the Student Services office on campus and an active member of First Baptist Church of Flora. Harrell has volunteered for multiple mission trips and has served as a group leader for Williamsville’s D-Now. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in elementary education at Mississippi State University.
Jordan Leech
Jordan Leech, son of Julie and Eddie Pipkin, and Katy and Keith Leech, is a nursing major with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Leech is active on campus as president of the Baptist Student Union and as a member of the Holmes Tennis Team. He has been recognized for his academic and athletic achievements; he was named an Academic All-American and named on the President’s List. Leech’s community service includes volunteering at a local hospital, volunteering with Mission Hope and spreading the love of Christ through BSU. Upon graduation from Holmes, he plans to transfer to The W – Mississippi University for Women to earn his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. He would like to work in the ICU then go back to school to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA).
Janey Beth McRae
Janey Beth McRae, daughter of Amanda and Chris McRae, has a GPA of 3.95 as an elementary education major. McRae was named Student Body Maid for the Goodman Campus and has received the Dr. L.C. Henson scholarship. She is also involved in student leadership, serving as president of Phi Theta Kappa, vice president of the Student Government Association and as an Ambassador. Upon graduation, McRae plans to continue her studies in elementary education at Mississippi State University.
Bella Parker Roberts
Bella Parker Roberts, the daughter of Debbie and Mickey Roberts, is a pre-physical therapy major who is extremely active on campus. Roberts is a member of the Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team, Phi Theta Kappa and the Baptist Student Union. She is also a Scholar Athlete and President’s List Scholar who was named to the All-MACCC Team for basketball. Additionally, Roberts plays USTA tennis, and is involved in the community through multiple avenues. She’s volunteered at Premier Medical Clinic on campus, Vacation Bible School, Read Across America, Mission Hope and the Mississippi Jazz AAU summer program. After Holmes, Roberts plans to pursue a degree in kinesiology and a doctorate in physical therapy.
Evan Yates
Evan Yates, son of Mandi and Mike Yates, is a biochemistry major who is a student-leader on campus. Yates is a member of The Holmes Connection! and Coachmen, while also serving as vice president of campus project for Phi Theta Kappa. In 2024, he was recognized on the Dean’s List, as well. Upon graduation, Yates plans to transfer to Mississippi State University to complete his bachelor’s in biochemistry before applying to Physician Assistant programs. He also works as a drummer and sound technician at Style Entertainment.
These exceptional students represent the core values of Holmes and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in academics, leadership and community involvement.
