Holmes Community College employees Morgan Bondurant and Bethany Miller graduated from the Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy (MCCLA) on May 5. Established in 2009, MCCLA is a year-long professional development program designed to prepare mid- and upper-level administrators within Mississippi’s community college system for senior leadership roles.
Bondurant has served as director of marketing and recruiting at Holmes since July 1, 2024. He joined the Holmes family in 2019 as multimedia specialist and has played a key role in the growth and success of the college’s marketing efforts.
In addition to his work at Holmes, Bondurant is the owner and operator of Jackson Web Works, a web and graphic design company he launched in 2015. He previously worked as a web developer for Hightower Advertising Agency and as an administrative systems programmer for East Mississippi Community College.
Bondurant holds a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies from Mississippi State University and is currently researching online graduate programs. He is a member of the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM), where he earned seven awards in 2024 and five in 2023.
Outside of work, Bondurant enjoys playing bass in a local band in the Jackson metro area and pursuing astro-imaging and photography. He and his wife, Lauren, have two sons, Sidney Morgan and Samuel Taylor. He also volunteers as an assistant coach for his children’s basketball, baseball, soccer and football teams.
“I was bit skeptical about attending at first, but after the first session I was hooked,” Bondurant said. “I have a better understanding of the ‘what’ and ‘why’ we do things at our institutions, and an appreciation of what our presidents and previous presidents are responsible for to keep us going as a system every year. The relationships we developed during the year will last a lifetime. I am very grateful for being selected to attend the MCCLA.”
Bethany Miller, director of the college’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), also completed the MCCLA program. Miller formerly served as director of admissions before stepping into her current role, where she oversees the development and implementation of QEP initiatives focused on student learning and success.
Miller’s journey with Holmes began in 2011 as a student at the Grenada Campus, where she was actively involved as an Ambassador, work-study and member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She graduated in 2013 as valedictorian and later earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi in 2017, graduating summa cum laude and receiving the university’s highest academic honor, the Taylor Medal. Her academic excellence was further recognized when she served as the student speaker and banner bearer at the commencement ceremony. Following the completion of her bachelor’s, Miller earned an MBA from Delta State University.
Professionally, Miller has held several positions at Holmes, including financial aid advisor and administrative assistant to the Grenada Campus vice president. She has also served as the Trek Coordinator for the Grenada and Goodman campuses, focusing on student support and success. Additionally, Miller was an advisor for the Alpha Mu Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, for which she received the Horizon Advisor Award in 2019.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Miller is actively involved in her community. She and her husband, Trae, who serves as Outreach Director, are active members of their church, The Pentecostals of Grenada. She contributes to the church’s children’s ministry as a Sunday school teacher. The couple has two daughters, London Rose and Remi Rae.
“I am incredibly grateful for my time at MCCLA,” Miller said. “The professional networking opportunities, leadership development, and valuable experiences I acquired will continue to influence and guide me throughout my career at Holmes.”
Both Bondurant and Miller were selected for MCCLA based on their demonstrated leadership and dedication to Mississippi’s community colleges. To learn more about MCCLA, visit https://mccfms.com/mccla/.
