Holmes holds Associate Degree Nursing Pinning Ceremony for Ridgeland Evening Program

RIDGELAND, Miss. —Holmes Community College held its Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Pinning Ceremony for the Ridgeland Campus Class of 2025 evening program on Dec. 10 at the Ridgeland High School Auditorium.

The ceremony marked the transition of nursing students into the professional field, symbolizing their readiness to enter patient care with skill, compassion and integrity. Families, faculty and friends gathered to honor the graduates for their dedication and perseverance throughout the rigorous program.

Dr. Bronwyn Martin, vice president of the Ridgeland Campus, welcomed attendees before Jennifer Armitage offered the opening prayer. Instructor Danette Tannehill presented the traditional pin and candle symbolism, highlighting nursing’s legacy of service and the significance of the Florence Nightingale lamp.

During the ceremony, Asia Sandifer of Ridgeland was named Associate Degree Nursing Student of the Year. Sandifer earned the honor for achieving the highest academic average in the class for two consecutive years.

Instructor Dr. Tiffany Cox served as the announcer for the pinning portion of the ceremony, with instructors Virginia Applewhite and Coretta Carter presenting pins to each graduate. The Class of 2025 honorees included Ruobing Alford, Jeremiah Allen, Wade Altobelli, Armitage, Yasheaka Bell, Sara Carpenter, Mylia Engle, Ashley Gaines, Shelby Green, Alexis Haynes, Tressie Johnson, Diamond McCallum, Ashley Ragan, Yesenia Rivera, Danielle Robinson, Destiny Rogers, Sandifer, Cassidy Scott, Teresa Seymour, Justin Warren and Kiara Williams.

Following the pinning presentation, instructor Cindy Bridges led the graduates in reciting the Florence Nightingale Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to ethical practice and compassionate care. Allen delivered the closing prayer.

The ceremony also recognized the ADN faculty of the Ridgeland Campus, including Program Chair and Assistant Director Dr. Alice Austin and instructors Virginia Applewhite, Dr. Jennifer Bertucci, Bridges, Coretta Carter, Dr. Tiffany Cox, Lakiesha McGowan, Tannehill, Dr. Alicia Turner and Niki Walker.

Holmes Community College congratulates the Associate Degree Nursing Class of 2025 and commends them for their achievements and dedication to entering the nursing profession.
