RIDGELAND — An HVAC EPA 608 certification training course will be offered beginning March 3 at the Ridgeland Campus of Holmes Community College.
The workforce development training is designed for individuals interested in gaining the skills and certification required to safely handle refrigerants used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
The course will cover refrigerant handling safety, refrigerant and oil compatibility, charging and recovery procedures, legal requirements for handling refrigerants, EPA 608 test preparation and test proctoring.
Classes will be held Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4–7 p.m. through April 8, with no class scheduled during Spring Break.
Training will take place in the McGowan Building on the Ridgeland Campus, located at 412 W. Ridgeland Ave.
Participants must register through the WIN Job Center by contacting Vanessa Shiers at 601-619-2843 or 601-629-6886.
The training is offered as a non-credit workforce course, meaning participants do not enroll as Holmes students. For those who qualify, grant funding may cover the registration fee and may also provide an hourly stipend for time spent in class.
