Holmes Grenada Honors Students at Annual Awards Program

GRENADA, Miss. — Holmes Community College recognized outstanding student achievement during its Annual Awards and Honors Program held April 22 in the Corey Forum on the Grenada Campus.

Dr. Jenny Jones, vice president of Academics and eLearning, welcomed guests. Slade Redwine, coordinator of Career and Technical Education on the Grenada Campus, opened the program with an invocation. Awards were presented throughout the ceremony, and Dr. Tina Garrett, coordinator of academic programs on the Grenada Campus, delivered closing remarks.

Students were honored across a wide range of academic and career and technical programs.

Abbie Ellington of Attala County received the Physical Therapist Assistant Award. Tiffany Johnson of Attala County received the Phi Theta Kappa Award.

Lexi McClain of Carroll County received the Chemistry Award and was also named to the Hall of Fame. Riley Boyd of Carroll County received the Surgical Technology Award.

Anthony DelGeorge of DeSoto County received the Associate Degree Nursing (Day) Award.

Tamika Hardiman of Grenada County received the Associate Degree Nursing (Evening) Award. Alexia Strong of Grenada County received the Business Administration Award. Christopher Beach of Grenada County received the English Award and was also named to the Hall of Fame. Jason Bender of Grenada County received the Fine Arts (Music Appreciation) Award. William Hobson of Grenada County received the Mathematics Award. Taylor Willis of Grenada County received the Social Sciences Award. Blake Williams of Grenada County received the History Award. Savannah Edwards of Grenada County received the Speech Award. A’Maiya Noel of Grenada County received the Business Technology Award. James Harris of Grenada County received the Forestry Technology Award. Phillip Penn of Grenada County received the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Award. Benjamin Smith of Grenada County received the Electro-Mechanical Technology Award. LaTavia Carson of Grenada County received the Practical Nursing (January) Award. Lindsey Tartt of Grenada County received the Practical Nursing (August) Award. Jacob Bennett of Grenada County received the Welding and Cutting Technology Award. Jessica Moore of Grenada County received the Phi Theta Kappa Award.

Melissa Falchi Fornitani of Montgomery County received the Biological Science Award. Tasia Bryant of Montgomery County received the EMS-Basic Award. Madeline Branch of Montgomery County was named to the Hall of Fame.

Sara Cochran of Tallahatchie County was named to the Hall of Fame.

Noah Dean of Webster County received the Computer Science Award.

Alyssa McCord of Yalobusha County received the Engineering Technology Award.

The Hall of Fame represents the highest honor a student can receive at Holmes.

The annual event celebrates student excellence and highlights the academic and technical accomplishments of Holmes Community College students on the Grenada Campus.
