Dees named Grenada Campus Practical Nursing Instructor

Lauren Dees of Grenada has joined the Practical Nursing staff on the Grenada Campus.

The Grenada High School graduate has an ADN degree from Holmes Community College and has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Dees has been a registered nurse for 11 years and currently still works at UMMC-Grenada as an ICU nurse. At UMMC-Grenada, she also worked on PCU and transitioned to ICU charge nurse and also worked in the Emergency Department, Medical Surgical Unit and in Infection Control. While at UMMC-Grenada, she also worked part-time for Greenwood Leflore Hospital and Baptist Hospital in Calhoun City. She also has done travel nursing assignments and served as a hospice nurse with Sta Home health and Hospice.

She is a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and also helps with the children’s nursery.

Her hobbies include reading, baking, cake decorating and spending time with her family with most weekends being spent attending her daughter’s activities and her son’s travel ball games.

Dees and her husband, Cull, a lieutenant with the Grenada Fire Department, have been married for almost 11 years and have two children, Emily, 15, and Lane, 10. The Dees met and began dating while attending the Grenada Campus.

“I am so thrilled to be a part of the Holmes family,” Dees said. “I can say without a doubt I finally feel like that I am exactly where I belong! I know the Lord led me to this career for this exact job. I have always loved nursing and now I get to share that love and help grow future generations of compassionate nurses.”
