Dr. Kyle Moore joins Holmes staff as assistant band director

Dr. Kyle Moore will join the faculty of Holmes Community College as the assistant director of bands and a low brass instructor in the fall of 2024. He currently enjoys an active schedule as an orchestral performer and as an educator.
Prior to joining the Fine Arts Department at Holmes, Dr. Moore served as an adjunct staff member for the Germantown High School band program in Madison. He also has experience as an instructor for the University of Georgia’s Community Music School in Athens, Georgia, and as a trombone studio graduate assistant at UGA. Dr. Moore maintains an active studio with students grades 7th through 12th. In March, he co-directed Germantown High School’s first trombone ensemble, which performed at the University of Southern Mississippi’s annual Trombone Day.
Dr. Moore has performed with numerous ensembles across the Southeast, including the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, the Charleston Symphony, the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, the South Carolina Philharmonic, Big Band Atlanta and the Jazz/Fusion Ensemble “Misnomer.”
As a student, Dr. Moore participated in numerous professional workshops and orchestral festivals, including the Southeast Trombone Symposium, the Lätzsch Trombone Festival in the Netherlands, the Santa Fe Trombone Summit, the Third Coast Trombone Retreat, the InterHarmony international music festival in Italy and the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. In 2019, he was a winner of the SSMF’s Jacqueline Avent Concerto Competition, performing movements of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Concerto for Bass Tuba” with the Festival Orchestra. He also participated in the University of Southern Mississippi’s British Studies Program, focusing on World War II history primarily in London, and in USM’s Austrian Studies, focusing on Western Music History in Vienna.
Dr. Moore is a proud graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi (B.M.E. & B.M.) and the University of Georgia (M.M. & D.M.A.). His teachers include Dr. Joshua Bynum, Mr. Justin Harvison and Dr. Ben McIlwain.
