Dr. Rachelle Moore was recently named director of library services at Holmes Community College. She previously served as the Grenada Campus librarian.
Moore is a Holmes alumna who earned her Associate of Arts degree in elementary education before transferring to Mississippi State University to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in interdisciplinary studies. Following her bachelor’s degree, she earned her master’s degree in library and information science from The University of Southern Mississippi. Moore recently completed her Doctor of Education in higher education administration and leadership from The University of Southern Mississippi.
Prior to her role as a librarian at Holmes, she served as the district librarian at West Tallahatchie School District and the library media specialist at Kirk Academy. She began working at Holmes in March of 2018.
“When I first joined Holmes as an assistant librarian, it was my opportunity to learn about academic libraries and its changing dynamics,” Moore said. “I am thankful Holmes has given me the opportunity to continue to grow in my profession. The family atmosphere at Holmes is truly special.”
Born in Laurel, she is the youngest of five children. She is married to Mark, pastor of Stonefield Church of God, and they have two sons, John Mark and Jacob. John Mark, his wife Haley and grandson, Hampton, live in Minter City. Jacob, his wife Katie and granddaughter, Sylvie, are stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado.
Moore is a member of the New Century Book Club, Daughters of the American Revolution-Grenada Chapter and the Mississippi Library Association where she serves as co-chair of the Nominating Committee. She is also a member of Beta Phi Mu and the Southeastern Library Association where she serves on the Membership Committee. In her spare time, Moore enjoys reading, singing and playing the piano.
