Educational group ranks Paralegal program No. 5 Students in the Paralegal Technology program, which was ranked No. 5 by SR Education Group.
Holmes Community College's paralegal program was recently ranked No. 5 in the 2019 Most Affordable Online Colleges listing. The full list, compiled by SR Education Group, can be found at their web site.
"The Paralegal program at Holmes is such a wonderful opportunity for students interested in entering the legal field," said Vice President of Career-Technical Education Dr. Amy Whittington. "With courses that prepare students for the NALS Accredited Legal Professional (ALP) exam, graduates can leave not only with a college degree but also with a major certification to help them be as competitive as possible in the workplace."
Launched in 2004, SR Education Group is an online education research publisher with a mission to create authoritative resources for students seeking an online education program that best suits their budget and career aspirations. These rankings, unveiled on GuidetoOnlineSchools.com, represent online schools across the nation that are making an effort to provide economical options for students.
"There has been a lot of talk about how expensive attending college has become, but no one is taking the time to recognize colleges that are making a concerted effort to keep tuition costs low," said SR Education Group CEO Sung Rhee. "The colleges represented on our 2016 Most Affordable Online Colleges and Degrees lists are revolutionizing the education industry by offering quality degrees at palatable prices. It is our hope that other colleges take notice and start to follow suit, lowering tuition costs all across the nation!"
"The paralegal program at Holmes provides students with a path to attain a college degree online, which is great for students who work full-time, are home with children or for whatever other reason just can't come to campus for classes," said Darleen Dozier, Paralegal Technology program coordinator/instructor. "The online classes provide the student with videos, podcasts and other tools helpful for those not in the classroom. It's an extra bonus that the cost for this college degree is reasonable and even lower than most colleges offering similar degrees."
Holmes is part of the Mississippi Virtual Community College (MSVCC) and offers classes via the Internet platform Canvas. Courses are offered both by Holmes instructors and through other instructors in the MSVCC. Although a number of options are offered, including regular semester courses, four-week courses, and eight-week courses, the eLearning Department offers to customize schedules for interested students if they do not see a class they need.
