Four Goodman students inducted into the Holmes Hall of Fame

Each year, Holmes Community College faculty and staff members select the winners for the prestigious Hall of Fame. This year, the Hall of Fame inductees from the Goodman Campus included: Mia Coy Bridges of Winona, Jonathan Chase Langford of McCool, Lanie Rae Potter of Yazoo City and Aaliyah M. Sansom of Ridgeland.

Mia Coy Bridges

Bridges, daughter of Holly and Andy Bridges, is an accounting major. She is active on campus as an officer for Phi Theta Kappa, a cheerleader and an accounting tutor. She was also an Ambassador her freshman year at Holmes and has been on the President’s List every semester. Bridges was recently named to the Phi Theta Kappa All-Mississippi Academic Team, as well. Upon graduation from Holmes, she will transfer to Delta State University, where she has been accepted into the Honors Program. She was selected as a Top 5 Finalist for the Statesman Transfer, received the Magnolia Scholarship and received the Phi Theta Kappa Catalyst Award at Delta State, as well.

Community involvement and volunteer work is very important to Bridges. For several years, she has been part of a mission team to Guatemala. During these trips, she teaches Bible stories to children, helps with door-to-door evangelism, hands out food packets and shares Jesus’s love with children and families. Bridges also volunteers at her church; she helped her mom teach AWANA, assisting children in learning Bible verses, and she has taught Vacation Bible School too. Additionally, she participated in the Junior Auxiliary of Winona Crown Club. During Crown Club, young ladies volunteer at nursing homes, help with Easter egg hunts and babysit. She volunteers at Mission Hope and works at Hammond’s Pharmacy as a clerk, as well.

Jonathan Chase Langford

Langford, son of Nancy and Jeff Langford, is a biological sciences major with a pre-dental concentration. He is president of the Kappa Alpha chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and received the 2023 Order of the Golden Key award. Langford is also an Ambassador, member of Holmes Plus and a member of Get2College Corps. In addition to community service projects completed through Phi Theta Kappa, he has volunteered at Shepherd’s Touch in Kosciusko and been a storm relief volunteer through the student ambassador group and the American Red Cross.

After graduating from Holmes, Langford plans to transfer to Mississippi State University in the fall. He hopes to attend the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s School of Dentistry after obtaining his bachelor’s degree to become a Doctor of Dental Medicine.

Lanie Rae Potter

Potter is the daughter of Dixie Roberts (mother), Jim Roberts (stepfather), Sidney Potter (father) and Abbie Potter (stepmother). She is a pre-nursing major who received the President’s Scholarship and is on the President’s List. Potter is active on campus as a member of the Lady Bulldogs basketball team and Phi Theta Kappa. She has participated in volunteer work with the Read Across America program, serving at Goodman Pickens Elementary; at the Mississippi Children’s Museum in Jackson; with Vacation Bible School at First United Methodist Church of Yazoo City and with the Rankin County Women’s Correctional Facility. Upon graduation from Holmes, Potter plans to attend the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing. She will begin the program in May.

 Aaliyah M. Sansom

Sansom, daughter of Tiffany Sansom and Aaron Holliday, is a pre-physical therapy major. She is the community service chair for the student support services group, MOSAIC (Multicultural Organization for Students Achieving, Inspiring others, and Challenging themselves) and an Ambassador for the Goodman Campus. Alongside the other Ambassadors, she helped serve honorees and their families at the 2022 Sports Hall of Fame dinner. Prior to coming to college, she was on the Honor Roll at Ridgeland High School. Upon graduation from Holmes, Sansom plans to attend Delta State University to earn a bachelor’s degree. After Delta State, her plan is to obtain a master’s degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

“I would like to thank my family and friends for motivating me to keep pushing through even when times got rough,” Sansom said. “I also want to thank my favorite professors, Mrs. Sample, Mr. Eckelberry, Mr. Moorer and Mr. Cheatham.”
