Grenada Campus announces 2021 Creative Writing Contest Winners

Each year, the Holmes Community College Grenada Campus holds a Creative Writing Contest. All winners receive cash prizes furnished by the Holmes Foundation. First and second place winners are forwarded to the Mississippi Community College Creative Writing Association contest and will be published in Holmes’ Creative Writing Journal, “Reflections.”

Winners of the Poetry Category were: first place, Princess Allen of Gore Springs for “In Your Eyes” and “On the Bottom,” and second place, Nick Johnson of Duck Hill for “One Call Away” and “The Bond.” Allen also took home first in Creative Nonfiction for “God, Why ME?”

The competition was open to all students on the Grenada Campus of Holmes, regardless of their major, and entries were judged by the English faculty members.
