Grenada Campus announces 2023 Who’s Who

The Holmes Community College Grenada Campus announced the 2023 Who’s Who recipients, which includes Mr. and Miss Holmes and Class Favorites. Mr. and Miss Holmes for the Grenada Campus are Eli Black of Grenada and Karlee Luke of Eupora.

Class Favorites include Baker Alan Avant of Carrollton, Destiny Hope Avery of Grenada, Taylor Alysse Carver of Grenada, Richard Andrew Flautt of Grenada, Ashlyn Elizabeth Gillespie of Greenwood, Grace Lael Knight of Calhoun City, Avery Grace Lowery of Winona and Kevion Damarcus McGee of Grenada.

Eli Black, son of Leslie and Paul Black and of Amanda and Tank Snell, is a psychology major. He’s also a Dean’s List scholar and a Bain & Corey Scholarship recipient. On campus, he is active as an Ambassador and member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Black has volunteered on campus with the Grenada Food Pantry. After graduation from Holmes, he plans to attend Mississippi College to earn a bachelor’s degree before pursuing his master’s and doctorate at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Karlee Luke, daughter of the late Stephanie McCool, is a nursing major. On campus, she is active as president of Phi Theta Kappa. She is also an Ambassador, Student Government Association member and Baptist Student Union member. Some of Luke’s honors include making it on the President’s List, receiving the Fine Arts Award, being voted a Sophomore Homecoming Maid and receiving the ACT Scholarship.

She has volunteered at the annual Hope Outdoors Banquet for the past three years, and she helps organize and fill the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes each year at her church. After graduating from Holmes in May, Luke plans to return in the fall of 2023 to begin the Associate Degree Nursing program.

“Out of all of the special memories I have made during my time at Holmes Community College, my favorite was getting to meet all of the Ambassadors this year and making new friendships that will last a lifetime,” Luke said.
