The Holmes Community College Grenada Campus held a Pinning Ceremony for the Surgical Technology Class of 2023 on June 29 in the Corey Forum Auditorium. Eight students were honored.
Graduates included: Amy Bonner of Boyle, Katie Lauren Clark of Carrollton, Markia Griffin of Kosciusko, Akia Hollands of Kosciusko, Raven Otis of Canton, Elizabeth Upchurch of North Carrollton and Ashton Whitfield of Holcomb.
The ceremony began with surgical technology instructor Leah Mitchell welcoming everyone. She recognized two students for having the highest and second highest GPAs in the class. Otis was named valedictorian for having the highest and Upchurch was named salutatorian for having the second highest.
After the awards were given, Mitchell called the students up one-by-one to receive their certificates and pins. The graduates then recited the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) Code of Ethics before Whitfield concluded the ceremony with the benediction.
