Holmes Community College alumnus Garian Edwards of Grenada has been accepted into the prestigious Living Sport 2026 Big Game International Sport Business Program, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will take him to San Francisco, California, during Super Bowl LX week. The 11-day Living Sport experience, held Jan. 31–Feb. 10, 2026, brings together over 1,500 young professionals and industry leaders for immersive networking and hands-on experiences in the global sports industry.
Edwards, who graduated from Holmes in 2024, will begin his senior year at Alcorn State University this fall, where he is majoring in athletic training and physical education.
“This opportunity is one of a lifetime,” Edwards said. “Not only do I get to represent my family and friends, but I also get to represent my hometown of Grenada, Holmes CC and Alcorn State. This experience will teach me leadership, professionalism and give me experience like no other within the sports industry, and I’m very excited!”
During his time at Alcorn, Edwards has served as a Brave Ambassador and worked as a student trainer with the sports medicine team at the NFL HBCU Legacy Bowl, which was held in February. He was recently selected to serve as a volunteer athletic trainer for Alabama A&M during the 2025–26 academic year, where he will assist their athletic department and sports medicine program through the Student Aid Program. This summer, he will work as a fitness consultant for youth ages 8–18 at Camp Micah in Maine.
At Holmes, Edwards left a lasting impact as a leader and scholar. He began his academic journey on the Grenada Campus before transferring to Goodman, where he served as an Ambassador. He was actively involved in MOSAIC, the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Behavioral and Social Sciences Honors program. He earned an Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in athletic training.
Looking ahead, Edwards aspires to become a certified athletic trainer and work at the professional level in leagues such as the NFL, NBA or MLB. To help make his San Francisco journey a reality, Edwards has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for travel, food and other expenses associated with the program. Those interesting in contributing can find the GoFundMe on Edwards’ Facebook page.
