Holmes Community College recently welcomed alumna Leah Rainey to the staff as a financial aid advisor. A familiar face at Holmes, Rainey brings a strong background in academic excellence, campus involvement and dedication to service.
A graduate of Germantown High School and Holmes, Rainey excelled during her time as a student. Her accolades include membership in Phi Theta Kappa, participation in SkillsUSA, graduating with high honors and receiving both Foundation and Dean scholarships. She was also a regular on the President’s List, demonstrating her commitment to academic achievement. While attending Holmes, Rainey contributed to campus life as a Ridgeland Campus Ambassador and an employee of the Fitness Center. She was also very involved with SkillsUSA, and earned first place in Prepared Speech at the SkillsUSA National Championships in Atlanta, Georgia in June.
Beyond her professional and academic pursuits, Rainey is a member of Trinity Worship Church. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, listening to music, playing video games and writing. Her family includes her parents, Derrick and Janice Rainey; her grandmother, Gussie Jeffrey; her sister, Mekayla Rainey; and her brother, Gabriel Rainey. Her father, Derrick, is an Automotive Service Technology instructor on the Goodman Campus.
“I’m very happy to be here!” Rainey said. “It feels like I’ve just joined a huge family. Everyone is super nice, and the environment is always warm and friendly. I look forward to working with everyone. There’s truly ‘No Place Like Holmes!’”
Rainey’s familiarity with Holmes and her enthusiasm for helping others make her a valuable addition to the financial aid team.
