Holmes alumna Mary Clayton Belk steps into nursing faculty role

Mary Clayton Belk, RN, has joined the Holmes Community College family as part of the Practical Nursing faculty. Belk will serve as the nurse navigator alongside practical nursing instructor Candice Buchanan.

Prior to Holmes, Belk was a nurse in the Critical Care Unit at Baptist in Columbus. She also served as an RN for Internal Medicine at Meridian Medical Associates for a year. Belk obtained her Bachelor of Nursing from University of Mississippi Medical Center after completing her Associate of Arts degree in pre-nursing from the Holmes Goodman Campus. She is currently pursuing her Master of Nursing in Education at UMMC.

Belk is the daughter of Holmes Workforce Coordinator/Attala Center Director Mandy Burrell, and the sister of Holmes alumna Addie Burrell. While at Holmes, Belk was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and a President’s List Scholar who graduated with highest honors.

Belk and her husband, Parker, just welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Sawyer, in March. The Belks attend Crestview Church in Kosciusko, and in her free time, Belk enjoys spending time with her family.
