Holmes Electrical Lineman information meeting planned for March 7

The Fall 2024 Holmes Community College Electrical Lineman Informational Meeting will be held Thursday, March 7 at 5 p.m. at The Holmes Attala Center in Kosciusko. The Attala Center is located at 620 West Jefferson St., Kosciusko, MS.

The meeting is mandatory for acceptance into the lineman program.

The 16- week electrical linemen program at Holmes requires participants to complete 608 clock hours. The electrical linemen trainees must pass a drug test, pass a  DOT physical, have a high school diploma or GED certificate and be at least 18 years of age. Additional requirements may be given upon enrollment in the electrical linemen training.

After completion of the training each trainee will be able to: drive commercial vehicles requiring Class A license; explain all aspects of the safety manual; make connections of meter loops, transformers and other equipment on de-energized poles; assist with the framing and installation of poles and apparatus on the ground; read and understand general information on the REA specification book; assist in the burying of cable and other related work; operate vehicles and equipment (bucket trucks, digger derrick trucks, forklifts, etc.) safely; differentiate between an energized and de-energized structure and recognize appropriate hazards; make basic connections and disconnections and check voltage/amperes.
