Holmes Grenada Campus announces 2023 Homecoming Maids

Holmes Community College recently announced members of the 2023 Homecoming Court.

Grenada Campus court members include Student Body Maid Alana Claire Garrett of Carrollton, Sophomore Maid Camila Clevenger of Grenada, Sophomore Maid Melanie Ashlyn Lee of Grenada, Freshman Maid Meredith Meriwether of Holcomb and Freshman Maid Marla Ray McKnight of Vaiden.

Alana Claire Garrett is the daughter of Kemp Garrett and Melissa and Jim Nester. A graduate of Carroll Academy, she is a speech pathology major. Garrett is active on campus as an Ambassador, Student Government Association (SGA) representative and member of Phi Theta Kappa. After Holmes, she plans to attend Delta State University and further her education in speech pathology before going to The W – Mississippi University for Women for graduate school. Garrett will be escorted by Ryan Hobson of Batesville.

Camila Clevenger, daughter of Veronica and Ian Clevenger, is a communications major. Off campus, she works as a private translator for Grenada. Clevenger will be escorted by Hunter Carter of Grenada.

Ashlyn Lee, daughter of Amber Brooke Hankins, is a graduate of Kirk Academy. She is a radiology major and President’s List scholar. Lee is also a member of Elliot Baptist Church. Her goal is to pursue a career in radiology. Lee will be escorted by Richard Flautt of Grenada.

Meredith Claire Meriwether is the daughter of Ginger and Al Meriwether. A graduate of Grenada High School, she is majoring in pre-engineering at Holmes. She is active on campus as an Ambassador, Phi Theta Kappa president, a member of Baptist Student Union and a representative for SGA.

Off campus, Meriwether is an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and employed at the Grenada School of Performing Arts and at Puddleducks. She is a former Junior Auxiliary Crown Club Member, a former Anchor Club Member, a former National Honor Society Member, a Grenada High School Hall of Fame inductee and a James Hughes Outstanding Citizenship and Community Service Award recipient. Meriwether has also received the Dean’s Scholarship, the Meek Foundation Scholarship and the MSCMEA Scholarship. Upon graduation from Holmes, she plans to transfer to Mississippi State University and pursue a degree in civil engineering. Meriwether will be escorted by Maddox Carpenter of Carrollton.

Marla Ray McKnight, daughter of Melanie and Bryan McKnight, is a graduate of Winona Christian School. An English major, she is active on campus as an Ambassador and member of the Baptist Student Union. She also plans to get involved with SGA and Phi Theta Kappa. After Holmes, she plans to transfer to the University of Mississippi and eventually go to law school. McKnight will be escorted by Bryce Kirk of Grenada.

The queen and her court will be presented during halftime of the Bulldogs’ Homecoming Game against Northwest Mississippi Community College on Thursday, Oct. 26, in Goodman. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
