Holmes Community College recently announced members of the 2024 Homecoming Court.
Grenada Campus court members include Student Body Maid Meri Brynn Reeves of Greenwood, Sophomore Maid Mary-Faith Vance of Grenada, Sophomore Maid Kaylyn Barrett of Kosciusko, Freshman Maid Gracie Summers of Coffeeville and Freshman Maid Abby Redwine of Grenada.
Meri Brynn Reeves is the daughter of Tony and Tiffiney Reeves. She is a dental hygiene major and a Holmes ambassador. After Holmes, she plans to attend Mississippi Delta Community College to become a registered dental hygienist.
Reeves enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs, going to the gym and volunteering at Carroll Academy with their athletic programs. When she is not working as an ambassador, she works at Grenada nutrition.
Mary-Faith Vance is the daughter of Kyle and Heather Vance. She is majoring in Elementary Education, she serves as a student government representative and she is a Holmes ambassador. After Holmes, Vance plans to transfer to Ole Miss to finish her education and then become an elementary teacher During her free time, Vance babysits and she is a substitute teacher for the Grenada School District where she works primarily with the 3rd-5th graders.
“I love spending time with my family” states Vance, “I look forward to the day where I can teach and change young lives”. A quote that inspires Vance that Harry Styles said is “If you are happy doing what you are doing, nobody can tell you that you are not successful”.
Kaylyn Barrett is the daughter of Josh and Amanda Barrett. As a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa and a dedicated student in the Surgical Technology program, she is excited to be graduating this year with a dual degree: an Associate of Arts in General Studies and an Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology.
“My time in college has been a journey of growth, filled with hard work, friendships, and learning new skills that will shape my future career” Barrett states. “I am passionate about healthcare and plan to build a rewarding career as a surgical technologist”. Outside of her studies, she enjoys spending time with animals, cleaning, and traveling to explore new places whenever she gets the chance.
Gracie Summers is the daughter of Bobby and Valerie Summers. She is a biological science/ pre-nursing major on the Grenada campus, where she is actively involved with the Baptist Student Union. When she is not working at her favorite store, The Gift Box, she enjoys spending time with her friends, traveling, and supporting her younger brother in football and baseball. After graduating from Holmes with her associate degree in nursing, she plans to further her academic career and pursue her masters of science in nursing at the Mississippi University for women.
Abby Redwine is the daughter of Slade and Pamela Redwine. A pre-nursing major who is actively involved on the Grenada campus, she is a Holmes ambassador, she serves as the vice president of leadership for the Grenada Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and she is a member of the Baptist Student Union.
Redwine loves being an ambassador and helping other students, she also enjoys being involved in student activities. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching Grey’s Anatomy and spending time with family.
“I plan on graduating Holmes Community College with an associate degree in nursing and then pursuing a career in dermatology and aesthetics. Redwine remarks. “I have always been fascinated with skincare and I want to help others feel confident”
The queen and her court will be presented during halftime of the Bulldogs’ Homecoming Game against East Mississippi Community College on Thursday, Oct. 31, in Goodman. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
