Holmes hires Katie Murphy as district coordinator of Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit

Holmes Community College welcomed Katie Murphy as the district coordinator of Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit. She has 21 years of experience working in the community college system; seven with Jones College and 14 years with Hinds Community College.

A community college alumna herself, Murphy holds an Associate of Arts degree in psychology from Hinds (1999), a Bachelor of Science in educational psychology from Mississippi State University (2001) and a Master of Arts in higher education from The University of Mississippi (2002). She is a member of The National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and an active member of Highland Colony Baptist Church in Ridgeland, as well.

Murphy and her husband, Kelly, have been married for 21 years. They have three children: Thomas (19), Rhett (17) and Lainey Kate (14). Thomas was a dual enrollment/dual credit student at Holmes last year and is now a college freshman, Rhett is a junior at Germantown High School and Lainey Kate is an eighth grader at Germantown Middle School. Murphy’s hobbies include attending her children’s sporting events, working in the yard and playing with her two labs, Cocoa and Molly.

“I am very excited to be a part of the Holmes Community College family!” Murphy said. “I am a tremendous supporter of the Mississippi Community College system and I look forward to serving the students at Holmes!”
