Holmes’ Jones and Mack earn graduate degrees from Delta State; Jones also receives fellowship

Holmes Community College Ridgeland Campus employees David Jones and Tammie Mack both graduated from Delta State University with graduate degrees in December 2022. Mack, a library technical assistant, completed her Master of Business Administration. Jones, a psychology instructor, earned a Master of Arts in liberal studies (with a concentration in sociology). Additionally, Jones received the John S. and Jutta Karnstedt Ferretti Fellowship. This fellowship is designated for an outstanding student in the Master of Arts in liberal studies program and was made possible by Mrs. Ferretti in honor of her late husband John.

Tammie Mack is a proud 2020 alumna of Holmes, where she obtained her Associate of Applied Science degree in business management and administrative office technology. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Jackson State University (1993).

She joined the Holmes family as a library technical assistant on the in September 2021.

“I’m proud to have joined the Holmes family,” Mack said. “I’m always happy to assist all the students, faculty and staff at the college.”

Mack and her husband, Joe, have been married 28 years and have three children: Joe Jr., Janae and Samuel.

David Jones holds a Master of Counseling Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in technology from University of West Alabama and an associate of applied science degree in funeral service education from East Mississippi Community College.

He started at Holmes in August of 2013 as an instructor in the funeral service program. When the program closed in May 2020, he moved into the Social/Behavioral Science Division.

Prior to coming to Holmes, Jones served as the general manager of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson, Alabama; prior to that, he was the assistant general manager of Pine Crest Funeral Homes in Mobile, Alabama. He currently works as a part-time funeral director/embalmer with Chancellor Funeral Homes in Byram and Florence.

Jones is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Sociological Association and the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practitioners. He is also a member of Christway Church in Flowood.

Jones and his wife, Cynthia, have three four-legged children; Rosy, Macy and Bandit.
