Holmes to offer Basic HVAC training at Yazoo Center
YAZOO CITY, Miss. — Holmes Community College will offer a Basic HVAC I and II training course this fall at the Holmes Yazoo Center for individuals interested in developing skills and knowledge in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
The non-credit course will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-8 p.m. Oct. 13-Nov. 19 at the Yazoo Center, 635 East Fifteenth St. in Yazoo City.
The skills-focused training will introduce participants to the core components of refrigeration systems and how HVAC systems function in real-world applications. Topics covered will include safety and refrigeration circuits; refrigeration piping and soldering; low-voltage and line-voltage electrical systems; electrical wiring in a lab setting; HVAC system sizing and ductwork installation in a lab; troubleshooting and repair; and general maintenance.
The course does not include EPA certification preparation.
The course fee is $60, and only 15 applicants will be selected. Priority will be given to individuals who are unemployed, those interested in beginning a career in HVAC or those seeking to advance their careers through skills gained in the course.
The registration deadline is Oct. 2. Applicants who are selected must pay the $60 fee to complete registration and hold their seat. Early payment is encouraged.

The registration fee will be waived for participants enrolled by a WIN Job Center career coach or a Holmes GED instructor.
