Holmes to offer welding workforce training in July

RIDGELAND — Holmes Community College will offer an Introduction to Welding workforce training course beginning in July on the Ridgeland Campus.

The noncredit course is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of welding through hands-on instruction in MIG (GMAW) and stick (SMAW) welding techniques. Participants will gain practical experience using industry equipment, develop core welding skills and earn an industry-recognized certificate of completion from Holmes.

Classes will meet July 6-30 on Mondays through Wednesdays from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on the Ridgeland Campus.

Participants must be 18 years old or older and have a high school diploma or GED. Required personal protective equipment includes leather boots, preferably without laces. Participants wearing lace-up boots must use spats. Students also must wear 100% cotton shirts and pants. Shirts may not have chest pockets unless the pockets have flaps.

The class fee is $125. Class size is limited, and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is not final until payment is received in full.

The deadline for registration and payment is June 25 at noon.
