Professional Truck Driver Training Program accepting students

The Professional Truck Driver Training Program at Holmes Community College is a six- to eight-week program that prepares students to enter the commercial truck driving industry.

Classes meet Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and there are spots available in the next class, which begins Oct. 14. Classes are offered in Kosciusko, Grenada, Ridgeland and Goodman.

The program includes classroom instruction, controlled driving and road driving. Students receive instruction in operating diesel-powered vehicles, Department of Transportation rules and regulations, shifting techniques, pre- and post-trip inspections, loading and unloading cargo and maintaining required records.

The cost of the program is $1,450.

Requirements: Students must be at least 18 years old and already have a Class A permit.
