Ridgeland Campus PTK inducts 17 into honor society The Alpha Lambda Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) at Holmes Community College in Ridgeland inducted 17 new members into the honor society for two-year college students on Sept. 14 in the McGowan Workforce Training Center.

PTK is the international honors scholastic society for community colleges that recognizes intellectual achievement and promotes character, leadership and fellowship among community college students. Membership is by invitation to full-time students having a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher at Holmes Community College. Invitations are extended both the fall and spring semesters.

Blair Booker, librarian and PTK advisor, opened the ceremony with a welcome and invocation before installing new chapter officers. The officers, along with Booker and English Instructor/PTK advisor Erin Renfroe, inducted the new members, explaining meanings behind the symbolic rituals of the PTK induction ceremony.

The 2015-2016 Ridgeland Campus fall inductees are: Jada Collins of Jackson, Jonita Cooper of Jackson, Lindsey Crutcher of Jackson, Morgan Daniels of Madison, Soma De of Ridgeland, John Eaves of Canton, Kyle Foster of Madison, James Gerache of Vicksburg, Melinda Harris of Carthage, Jacey Jarnagin of Terry, Myia McGinty of Jackson, Caitlyn Mizelle of Clinton, Jordan Pettit of Byram, Gloria Salters of Byram, Darlene Smith of Jackson, Regina Smith of Yazoo City, and Carles Walker of Florence.

The officers for the 2015-2016 school year are: Mallory Corley of Pelahatchie, president; Jake Hinkle of Madison, vice president of college project; Jessie May of Vicksburg, vice president of outreach; Elise Fullwood of Madison, vice president of hallmarks, and Nathaly Espinoza of Ridgeland, recording secretary.
