Spell named Holmes Goodman Campus career tech counselor

Leslie Spell has been named the new career technical education counselor on the Holmes Community College Goodman Campus. She previously served as a recruiting specialist for the college.

A native of Lexington, Spell is a Holmes alumna who earned an Associate of Arts degree before transferring to Belhaven University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Belhaven followed by a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Jackson State University. Spell is currently pursuing her Ed.D. in higher education from the University of Mississippi.

Spell has cultivated a diverse knowledge in higher education as a result of teaching, recruiting and counseling for the past 20 years on the Holmes Goodman Campus. Prior to her role as a recruiting specialist, she served as an academic counselor and taught Leadership and Communication Skills as well as General Psychology.

Spell is affiliated with various professional organizations, such as the Mississippi Counseling Association, the Mississippi Community/Junior College Counselor Association and the Lexington Rotary Club. She enjoys reading, cooking and traveling. Spell and her daughter, Taylor (17), reside in Goodman.
