GOODMAN, Miss. — Holmes Community College welcomes Carla Yarbrough to its staff on the Goodman Campus.
Yarbrough brings a diverse background in banking, retail management, literature and the arts to her new role at Holmes.
Yarbrough attended Hobart & William Smith Colleges from 2002 to 2004 and Palm Beach Atlantic University ffrom 2004 to 2006, studying English and instrumental music. She graduated from Fair Haven Union High School in Fair Haven, Vermont, in 2002.
Before joining Holmes, Yarbrough worked as a bank teller at Regions Bank in Louisville from 2016-26. Prior to that, she served as a department manager at Petco in Stuart, Florida, from 2009-16. While attending Palm Beach Atlantic University, Yarbrough served as managing editor of the university’s “Living Waters Review,” an arts and literature publication. In 2006, she received the university’s Editorial Excellence award for her work with the publication.
Yarbrough is passionate about art, music, literature and literacy, as well as animals. Her hobbies include reading, writing, cooking and arts and crafts. She is also an aspiring author and has participated in Extra Life, a charity initiative that raises money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through gaming, for 14 years.
She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an English honor society and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Louisville. Her husband, Steven Taylor Yarbrough, works in Holmes’ IT Department and serves as pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Originally from Vermont, Yarbrough has lived in five states, including Connecticut, New York, Florida and Mississippi. She also traveled to Europe twice as a student ambassador through the People-to-People program. Although she describes herself as naturally introverted, Yarbrough said she enjoys learning about people and their passions.
Holmes welcomes Yarbrough to the Goodman Campus and looks forward to the experience and perspective she brings to the college community.
