All three of Holmes Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa chapters fared well at the Annual Phi Theta Kappa Mississippi/Louisiana Region Awards Gala. This year the Awards Gala was streamed on Zoom from 5-7 p.m. on March 29.
The Alpha Mu Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, housed on the Grenada Campus, took home a Top 10 Most Distinguished Chapter Award, Distinguished Honors in Action Theme 1 Award, seventh place for College Project as well as a few individual awards. Jamya Benson of Grenada received the Most Distinguished Officer Award and the Golden Key Award, and Academic Counselor Cynthia Abel received the Horizon Advisor Award.
The Kappa Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa from the Goodman Campus placed first in Theme 4 Issue, eighth in College Project, 10th in Honors in Action and 10th in Most Distinguished Chapters. Lucas Price of Kosciusko received the Golden Key Award, and Academic Counselor Simonee Miller and Engineering Technology Instructor Will Alexander each received the Horizon Award for advisers.
The Alpha Lambda Sigma Chapter from the Ridgeland Campus received fifth place Most Distinguished Chapters, fifth place in College Project and eighth place in Honors in Action. Je’la McLin of Jackson won the Golden Key Award, as well.
