Donna Ahlrich retires from Holmes

Donna Ahlrich, a dedicated educator for Holmes Community College, has announced her retirement after serving for just shy of 20 years at the college.

Donna has always been the instructor that every division needs because she is always incredibly organized, brings a real go-getter approach to tasks and has an unstoppable can-do attitude,” said Holmes Ridgeland Academic Dean Dr. Tonya Lawrence. “I’ve not known her to meet a challenge that she could not handle. While I haven’t reached her level of organization and drive, she definitely inspired me throughout the years. Donna’s impact will be felt for years to come.”

Ahlrich has held several impactful roles during her tenure at Holmes, including instructor of mathematics and statistics, both online and face-to-face, online proctor and lead online instructor. Her extensive education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, a Master of Science in Statistics with a minor in Mathematics and an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction of Mathematics.

“In my entire career I have never known a harder working instructor nor one more dedicated to her to the academic integrity of our great institution,” said Jon Rost, one of Ahlrich’s fellow mathematics instructors.

Before joining Holmes, Ahlrich honed her teaching skills with one year at Hinds Community College and 15 years at East Mississippi Community College, bringing a wealth of experience to the Holmes community.

Ahlrich is married to Paul Ahlrich and is the proud mother of four children: Graham Ahlrich (wife, Ivy; granddaughter, Scottie), Nolan Ahlrich (wife, Bess; granddaughter, Janie), Carley Hudnall (husband, Harper) and Jami Ahlrich (fiancé, Luke Overton).

An avid Mississippi State University sports fan, Ahlrich enjoys working out, running and reading in her free time. She is also a member of First Baptist Church Madison. In retirement, Ahlrich looks forward to traveling and spending quality time with her cherished grandchildren.

Reflecting on her time at Holmes, Ahlrich said, “I have absolutely loved working for Holmes for the last 19 years. I appreciate all the support and encouragement that was shown to me throughout the years. I enjoyed the opportunity to learn new skills and grow as an educator while I was here. I will truly miss coming to work every day! It is true what they say – there is no place like Holmes.”
