A piano recital with Dr. Harlan Zackery, Jr. is set for March 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the D.P. “Pat” McGowan Workforce Training Center on the Holmes Ridgeland Campus. A reception will follow the recital in the lobby. The event is free and open to the public.

The Center for Online Education released its list of the 50 best online community colleges for 2017, and Holmes Community College came in at number three in the nation.

Holmes Community College has been named one of the nation’s Best Online Community Colleges for 2016 by AffordableCollegesOnline.org (ACO), a leader in higher education information, resources and rankings.

Holmes Community College Ridgeland Campus Academic Dean Tonya Lawrence was presented with a Patriot Award from the Mississippi Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) on Thursday, Feb. 2.

Holmes Community College’s program for online has been recognized as one of the best in the nation by The Community for Accredited Online Schools (AccreditedSchoolsOnline.org).

The Holmes Community College Ridgeland Campus SkillsUSA chapter, along with the Ridgeland Fire Department, recently collected Christmas gifts for Sunnybrook Children’s Home, and delivered them on Dec. 7.

The Holmes Community College Rotoract Club, advised by Assistant Librarian Jennifer Smith, recently collected Angel Tree items for The Home Place and delivered them on Dec. 7.

Jim Shirley of Yazoo City, physics and engineering instructor, and Lane Spell of Lexington, a sophomore mechanical engineering student, have been named Holmes Community College’s honorees for the Legislature’s HEADWAE (Higher Education Appreciation Day – Working for Academic Excellence) program for 2017. Shirley and Spell are both on the institution’s Goodman Campus

Former Holmes Community College pre-dental student Ashley Weaver of Madison recently scored in the 95th percentile in the nation on her Dental Admission Test (DAT). On Nov. 16, she came and spoke to students on the Holmes Ridgeland Campus about preparing for professional school. An energetic, animated speaker, she kept the students’ attention from start to finish as she doled out meaningful advice on how to follow their dreams.

Two Holmes Community College alumnae, Taylor Adcock of Sallis (Class of ’16) and Lily Fran McCrory of Lexington (Class of ’15), each recently received early admittance into professional school programs. Adcock was admitted to School of Pharmacy at The University of Mississippi and McCrory received admittance to medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Both young ladies will begin their programs in the fall of 2017.
