Grenada Campus holds Surgical Technology pinning ceremony

The Holmes Community College Grenada Campus held a pinning ceremony for the Surgical Technology Class of 2024 on June 26 in the Corey Forum. Six students were honored. The graduating class included Abigail Byars, Kathryn Caruthers, Hannah Latham, Brittany Lee, Ashton Martin and Taylor Pleasants.

The ceremony began with a processional of the graduates, followed by Instructor Leah Mitchell welcoming the guests. Ashton Martin, shared remarks to guests and to the class and congratulated them on their journey. After Martin, Brittney Lee left encouraging words with her classmates.

Following Lee’s remarks, Surgical Technology Instructor Leah Mitchell approached the podium to present pins and awards. Mitchell called the students to the stage one-by-one to receive their certificates and pins. Martin was named the valedictorian of the class and Kathryn Caruthers was named salutatorian. Additionally, Caruthers was named Outstanding Surgical Technology Students for her excellence in academics and leadership. After the awards presentation and pinning, Martin gave the benediction to close the ceremony.
