Interested in learning a new skill? Register now for a four-week, hands-on electrical course sponsored by Holmes Community College. This course provides the opportunity to learn the basic theories of electricity, including amperage, voltage, and Ohm’s Law. Participants will also gain practical knowledge in electrical hazards, electrical safety, using personal protective equipment (PPE) to reduce the risk of injury, stripping and pulling wires, connecting and bending wires, and installing breakers and sockets, among other skills.
Students will be paid $10 per hour and will receive an industry-recognized certificate from Holmes and South Central MS Works.
The course will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 2-27 at the Nissan Training Center, located at 300 Nissan Dr. in Canton. Classes will run from 4 – 8 p.m. each day, with graduation and an employer fair held on the last day of training. Eligible participants will receive $10 per hour through the Mississippi Reconnect Grant.
