Holmes Community College is now accepting registrations for its two-week Fiber Splicing Course, designed to provide students with foundational knowledge and hands-on training in fiber optic technology. The course will be held at the McGowan Workforce Training Center on the Ridgeland Campus.
Two session dates are available: May 5–15 and July 14–24. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. A graduation ceremony and employer fair will take place on the final day of each session.
This comprehensive course is ideal for individuals new to the fiber optics field or those seeking to enhance their current skills. Students will learn the essentials of fiber optic networks, including cable preparation, termination, splicing and testing. Upon successful completion, participants will earn the Light Brigade Fiber Optics 1-2-3 Certification.
Eligible participants will receive $10 per hour in training wages through the Mississippi Reconnect Grant. Participants must be 18 years or older.
