Five students have successfully completed the industrial maintenance program for Modine Manufacturing, a year-long course totaling 240 clock hours. The program equips participants with the knowledge and skills required for entry-level positions in industrial maintenance.
This marks the fourth class of Modine employees to successfully complete the training program. The first class started in Fall 2020. The program was developed with input from Modine and customized by Holmes Community College to meet the company’s specific needs. The classroom and lab portions of the training are taught by HCC instructors Nettie Coggin and Herman Cummins. Modine selects employees for the program from their current work force and provides job shadowing opportunities at various times throughout the training program.
The course curriculum included: Basic Electricity and Electrical Wiring, Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems, Mechanical Drive Systems, Maintenance Welding, Industrial Electricity & Motor Control Systems as well as Programmable Logic Controllers.
The students who completed the program are Andrew Breland, Patrick McKinney, Chris Seals, Venessa Cook and Fletcher White.
During the certificate presentation ceremony, Workforce Coordinator Slade Redwine commended the students for their commitment and achievement.
“Congratulations on this accomplishment,” Redwine said. “You committed to this program and now have skills that will take you farther.”
White expressed his gratitude for the program and its instructors, saying, “We had great teachers, and I am glad I persevered.”
McKinney also reflected on his experience, adding, ‘I learned so much from this program and thoroughly enjoyed my time.”
