HEADWAE taps Anglin, Westbrook 2019 Holmes award recipients

Lisa Anglin, a mathematics instructor, and Hallie Westbrook of Pickens, an architectural engineering and accounting student, have been named Holmes Community College’s honorees for the Legislature’s HEADWAE (Higher Education Appreciation Day – Working for Academic Excellence) program for 2019.

Ingalls Shipbuilding partners with Attala Center for shipfitting class

Holmes Community College partnered with Ingalls Shipbuilding in the fall for a 14-week shipfitting class at the Attala Center in Kosciusko. The class finished last week, and after Ingalls’ representatives administered one final test, all class members were offered jobs and began employment at Ingalls this week. The remaining members were offered jobs with local companies.

Ridgeland Campus offers evening Adult Education classes

Holmes Community College is now offering evening High School Equivalency (HSE) classes on the Ridgeland Campus. The classes, which begin on July 24 and will continue throughout the school year, will be offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. in the McGowan Workforce Training Center.

Arrangements set for longtime employee Joey Netherland

Funeral services for longtime Holmes Community College employee Joey Netherland, Sr. are set for Saturday, June 9 in Frank Branch Coliseum on the Goodman Campus of Holmes Community College. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with services to follow at 3 p.m. A private graveside for family only will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery in Ebenezer.
