Lisa Anglin, a mathematics instructor, and Hallie Westbrook of Pickens, an architectural engineering and accounting student, have been named Holmes Community College’s honorees for the Legislature’s HEADWAE (Higher Education Appreciation Day – Working for Academic Excellence) program for 2019.

Holmes Community College partnered with Ingalls Shipbuilding in the fall for a 14-week shipfitting class at the Attala Center in Kosciusko. The class finished last week, and after Ingalls’ representatives administered one final test, all class members were offered jobs and began employment at Ingalls this week. The remaining members were offered jobs with local companies.

The Holmes Community College Workforce Development Division is offering computer-related community classes this fall on the Goodman Campus.

Holmes Community College graduates Ryan and Jacob Black met in the summer of 2007 on the Goodman Campus.

Members of the Holmes Community College Gaming Club (Goodman Campus) and HAVOC (Ridgeland Campus) participated in a half-day gaming tournament (CSG 1.10) and fellowship event at C Spire headquarters in Ridgeland on Saturday, Sept. 15.

In order to provide young people with the tools to have a successful career in line work, Yazoo Valley has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Workforce Development Training Program for linemen at Holmes Community College in Goodman.

Chances are if you’ve ever scanned radio stations in your vehicle while driving across the state of Mississippi and heard “Alex Paton…News Mississippi” at the end of a news report, you probably didn’t know she was a proud Holmes Community College graduate.

Former Holmes Community College student Ryan Patrick, owner of Pizza Shack, is knocking it out of the park with his restaurant businesses. A 2003 graduate of Madison Central High School, Ryan first attended the Holmes Ridgeland Campus upon high school graduation.

Holmes Community College is now offering evening High School Equivalency (HSE) classes on the Ridgeland Campus. The classes, which begin on July 24 and will continue throughout the school year, will be offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. in the McGowan Workforce Training Center.

Funeral services for longtime Holmes Community College employee Joey Netherland, Sr. are set for Saturday, June 9 in Frank Branch Coliseum on the Goodman Campus of Holmes Community College. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with services to follow at 3 p.m. A private graveside for family only will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery in Ebenezer.
