The Holmes Community College Surgical Technology programs on both the Grenada and Ridgeland campuses had a 100 percent pass rate on the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) exam. Holmes Surgical Technology Program Director Jessica Elliott, CST, RN, FAST, teaches the students in Grenada and Shea Coleman, CST, B.S., teaches in Ridgeland.

The Foundation for Surgical Technology (FFST) awarded Holmes Community College students Erin Bell of Ethel and Rebecca “Lauren” McDonald of Canton each $1,000 scholarships. In addition to the scholarships, both students will be recognized in the August issue of The Surgical Technologist, the Foundation website and in an upcoming issue of ASTSA News and the Instructors Newsletter. Bell is a student on the Holmes Grenada Campus and McDonald is a student on the Ridgeland Campus.

The Holmes Community College Ridgeland Campus held a Pinning Ceremony for the graduating Practical Nursing Class of 2020 on June 24 in the McGowan Workforce Training Center Auditorium. Fifteen students were honored during the ceremony.

The Grenada Campus of Holmes Community College held a Pinning Ceremony for the graduating Practical Nursing Class of 2020 on June 25 outside of the Industrial Training Complex on the Grenada Campus.

The Attala Center of Holmes Community College held a Pinning Ceremony for the graduating Practical Nursing Class of 2020 on June 25 at the center in Kosciusko. Included in the ceremony were the face-to-face students and the first graduates of the hybrid PN program.

If you are a Mississippi educator and are in need of Continuing Education Units (CEUs), Holmes Community College is offering a tuition-free class during the second summer term (July 6-July 30) to receive 4.5 CEUs.

Mississippi’s 15 community colleges plan to resume traditional operations and classes on their campuses this fall, according to the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges (MACC).

Holmes Community College was ranked #2 for Best Online Community Colleges in Mississippi by Optimal’s Guide to Online Schools. Optimal (formerly SR Education Group) has been publishing rankings of online colleges since 2009. The company’s goal is to help students make educated decisions when choosing an online degree.

Each year, Holmes Community College honors students with the highest GPAs as valedictorians and salutatorians. This year, one of the valedictorian had an even more impressive accomplishment: Addison Stevens of Madison earned her Associate of Arts degree as a dual-enrollment student while simultaneously graduating from high school.
