Charles Wood named Goodman Campus history instructor

Charles Wood has joined the Holmes Community College Goodman Campus full-time as a history instructor. He will also continue to serve as lead online history instructor for Holmes eLearning. Wood began his role as an adjunct online instructor for the college in the spring of 2014 and has served as lead online history instructor since 2016.

Prior to Holmes, Wood was employed as a history instructor for the Main Street Restart Center in Raymond for 15 years. He holds an associate degree from East Central Community College, a bachelor’s in business administration/marketing from Mississippi State University and a master’s in history from Jackson State University.

Wood is a member of First Baptist Church Louisville, the Mississippi Council Economic Education and he volunteers with the Gleaners Ministry. His hobbies include historical research, listening to live music and serving as owner/operator of Wood Acre Farm L.L.C.

Wood is married to Misty Lee Ferguson-Stout Wood, an occupational therapist and Prospective Payment Systems (PPS) coordinator for Methodist Rehabilitation Center.

“I am excited for the opportunity to serve as a full-time instructor on the Holmes Community College Goodman Campus,” Wood said. “History can be a dull, boring topic for many, but I have full intentions to motivate students in their overall collegiate experience and expand their knowledge and appreciation of history and how it is applicable to our lives.”
