Goodman Campus to offer additional workforce courses this spring The Holmes Community College Goodman Campus is excited to announce the addition of new course offerings for the spring of 2016.
For those interested in increasing their computer literacy, there are four courses that will be offered on Thursdays from February to May. From Feb. 4-18, a Computer 101 class will be offered. There is not charge for this class. From Feb. 25-March 24, a Microsoft Excel Basic Course will be offered; April 7-28, an Excel Intermediate; and May 8-26, Excel Advanced. These courses will all meet from 6-8 p.m. The Excel courses cost $25 each.
For this interested in a GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) program, the Goodman Campus will be offering 30 hours of coursework on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Feb. 16, from 5-8 p.m. Also known as MIG welding, GMAW is an extremely versatile process for joining metal. Taught by instructor Ben Lewis, the course cost $125.
This comprehensive training program features a combination of lecture and hands-on practice. The facility used for this course has welding stations with MIG welding machines and a well-ventilated workspace for project layout and class collaboration. This class is designed for beginners and those who want to take their skills to the next level. Upon completion, students will be familiar with safety, equipment, equipment set up and proper welding techniques.
A ServSafe Manager Food Course will be offered this spring; details to be announced. ServSafe training prepares participants for ServSafe certification and recertification as a Food Protection Manager. This workshop is for individuals seeking initial certification or recertification to work in an establishment handling food.
In addition, other community classes/programs with be added per request by business and industries in the area.
