Heather Pounds named Physical Therapy Assistant Program Director

Heather Pounds, DPT, BS graduated in 2003 with her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Central Arkansas where she also received a Bachelor of Science.

She currently works PRN at Tallahatchie General Hospital in the outpatient therapy department. She has been employed at TGH for 11 years and has played a vital role in building an outpatient program on campus. Prior to Holmes, Pounds serves as a Clinical Instructor and Center Coordinator for Clinical Education (CCCE) for Holmes Community College’s PTA Program. She previously worked in home health for Mississippi Home Care (Grenada), outpatient at Grenada Lake Medical Center (UMMC-Grenada), skilled nursing at Golden Living Center (Eupora) and on the wound care, spinal cord and neuro team at Baptist Health Rehabilitation Institute in Little Rock, AR.

Pounds lives in Grenada and has been married to Kris Pounds for 28 years. They have a 12-year-old daughter named Raylon who attends Kirk Academy. Heather is originally from Eupora and returned to MS after perusing her education. She and her family attend Providence Baptist Church. Outside of work, Heather enjoys camping, traveling and cheering on the Mississippi State Bulldogs with her family.
