Holmes grad returns to share with Physics students

Holmes grad returns to share with Physics students Kathryn Erickson, sales engineering manager at DataStax, spoke to Dr. Santosh Parakkal's class in Science Building East Thursday, Sept. 17 about what to expect before and after graduation. She is a Holmes Community College alumna, and daughter of Jackie Watkins, inventory specialist on the Ridgeland Campus.
 
Prior to joining DataStax, Erickson was a leader within the Sales Engineering team at Fusion-io. She brings with her nearly 12 years of experience in the Federal sector. Prior to Fusion-io Erickson led, conducted, and patented research at the MITRE Corporation. She also worked as part of the CyberTrust team at the National Science Foundation (NSF), which guided academic research in information security. Before the NSF, Erickson worked at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) developing new digital forensics investigative techniques.
 
Erickson was a computer science major at Holmes, and upon graduation, earned a bachelor's degree in software engineering from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master's in Security Informatics from Johns Hopkins University. She and her husband, Jon, reside in Great Falls, Virginia, with their daughter Karoline.
