BALTIMORE — Phi Theta Kappa chapters from Holmes Community College earned international recognition at the 2026 Phi Theta Kappa Catalyst Convention, competing alongside more than 1,200 chapters from around the world.
Students, advisors and campus administrators from the college’s Ridgeland and Grenada campuses attended the annual convention, where chapters were recognized for academic excellence, leadership and service.
The Ridgeland Campus chapter received multiple top honors, including a Top 5 finish for Most Distinguished Honors in Action Project and a No. 3 ranking for Most Distinguished Chapter Theme. The chapter was also named a ninth-place finalist for Most Distinguished Chapter in the World.
The Grenada Campus chapter was recognized among the Top 50 for Most Distinguished Honors in Action Project.
Both Ridgeland and Grenada chapters were also named among the Top 100 chapters worldwide, placing them among the highest-performing Phi Theta Kappa chapters internationally.
During the trip, students, advisors and administrators also spent a day in Washington, D.C., where they explored historic landmarks, strengthened connections and shared time together outside of competition.
“Such an incredible weekend! Could not be more proud of this group,” said Ridgeland Phi Theta Kappa Advisor Stephanie Blue.
College officials said the recognition reflects the dedication and hard work of Holmes students and advisors.
The Phi Theta Kappa Catalyst Convention is the organization’s annual international gathering, bringing together high-achieving students from two-year colleges to celebrate academic success and leadership development.
Holmes representatives said they are proud of the students for representing the college at a high level on the global stage.
