Holmes racks up at statewide CPRAM conference

Holmes Community College's Communications and Marketing/Recruiting departments racked up at this year's College Public Relations Association of Mississippi's (CPRAM) Conference held May 23-24 at Gulf Hills Hotel and Conference Center in Ocean Springs.

Hilliary O'Briant and Jim Tomlinson won first place in the Newsletter Division for "Pawprints;" Barin von Foregger, first place Web Page for the website (www.holmescc.edu); Tomlinson and Leslie Spell, first place in Viewbook for "At-A-Glance;" Tomlinson, second place in Brochure for "Phi Theta Kappa," and Mary Margaret Turner, third place in News Story for "Holmes Celebrates 90 Years of Excellence."

In addition to the awards Holmes took home, Turner and von Foregger also joined longtime board member Steve Diffey on CPRAM's 2017 board of directors. Turner will serve as vice president, von Foregger as junior/community college institutions representative, and Diffey will continue his position as scholarship chairman. Board members assist in annual conference duties as well as in the planning of the 2017 CPRAM statewide conference, which will be held May 21-23 at the same location in Ocean Springs.

CPRAM is an organization composed of public relations professionals employed at Mississippi's public and private colleges and universities. The conference gives members an opportunity to network with PR professionals across the state and attend informative sessions covering a variety of topics.

This year's speakers included Mike Frazer, president and sales director at Stockyard Productions, LLC; Dred Porter, Jr., co-owner and vice president of the Broadcast Division for Magnolia Clipping and Broadcast Monitoring Service; Harriet Laird, associate director for the Mississippi State University Office of Public Affairs, and Caroline Ramagos, vice president of Advancement and Institutional Relations for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
