Holmes recognizes faculty, staff for years of service during Opening Convocation

On Tuesday, Aug. 13, Holmes Community College celebrated the upcoming school year with an Opening Convocation on the Goodman Campus. The day began with a breakfast social and time for everyone to visit with one another. Once gathered in the coliseum, Holmes President Dr. Jim Haffey gave an address on the state of the college, introduced new employees and recognized employees who have reached five, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 35 years of service with the college. Faculty, staff and administration also enjoyed a performance by the Holmes cheerleaders, band and Dazzlers as part of the program before breaking for lunch and departmental meetings.

The Holmes employees recognized for five years of service with the college included: Kenny Arnett, security, Attala Center; Kate Barton, practical nursing instructor, Grenada Campus; Cheri Bergeron, eLearning accounting instructor, Goodman; Morgan Bondurant, director of marketing and recruiting, Ridgeland; Stephanie Chambley, administrative assistant to the vice president of Grenada Campus/Academic Programs, Grenada; Haley DeNoon, recruiter/student activities coordinator, Grenada; Dr. Rekam Giri, physics instructor, Ridgeland; Amy Lindsay, practical nursing instructor, Goodman; Ronnie Lockett, grounds worker, Goodman; Jacqueline Meek, music education instructor, Grenada; Terry Miller, music education instructor, Ridgeland; Dr. Durga Siwakoti, physics instructor, Goodman and Chelia Woodfork, career pathway transitions specialist.

The Holmes employees recognized for 10 years of service with the college were Christie Adams, cosmetology instructor, Goodman; Mary Margaret Busby, public relations specialist and journalism instructor, Ridgeland; Dr. Arletha Coffey, Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) instructor, Grenada; Shea Coleman, surgical technology program director/instructor, Ridgeland; Debbie Collins, housekeeper, Grenada; James Floyd, forest technology instructor, Grenada; Tina Garrett, coordinator of academic programs, Grenada; Sandra Hultz, Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) instructor, Ridgeland; Dr. Jason Kelly, director of student housing, Goodman; LaShonda Levy, English instructor; Dr. Troy Milliken, chemistry instructor, Ridgeland; Patrick Sample, police officer, Goodman; Elizabeth Shelby, Student Support Services (SSS) assistant, Goodman; Lisa Wilbourn, business office technology instructor, Grenada and Heather Wood, mathematics instructor, Grenada.

The Holmes employees recognized for 15 years of service with the college included: Mitch Costilow, IT technician, Grenada; Patty Jones, Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) instructor, Grenada; Dr. Luke Jones, dean of Career Technical Education (CTE), Goodman, Jessica Lepard, coordinator of transfer articulation and Shieneith White, administrative assistant to maintenance, Goodman.

The Holmes employees recognized for 20 years of service with the college were Laura Bigbee, Career Technical Education (CTE) support services coordinator, Goodman; Dr. Christi Blair, practical nursing instructor, Goodman; Yancy Brewer, Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) instructor, Ridgeland; Justin Ferguson, network administrator, Goodman; J.R. Hall, history instructor, Ridgeland; Eric Kimbrough, maintenance grounds, Goodman; Addie Lusk, dorm security, Goodman; Brenda Melton, assistant director of admissions, Goodman; Joey Netherland, maintenance engineer, Goodman and Joe Washington, maintenance grounds, Goodman.

The Holmes employees recognized for 25 years of service with the college were Rosalyne Davis, biological science instructor, Ridgeland and Pamela Fells, academic programs, Ridgeland.

Finally, the Holmes employee recognized for her 35 years of loyal service to Holmes was Terrell Hammett the payroll analyst on the Goodman Campus.
