Holmes Community College is proud to announce the addition of alumna Monica McDonald as the fieldwork coordinator/instructor for the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program on the Ridgeland Campus.
McDonald brings valuable experience to the role, having worked at St. Dominic’s Outpatient Rehab (SCV) in Madison from 2021-2025. She completed the Occupational Therapy Assistant Technology Program at Holmes in 2017 after earning her bachelor’s degree in clinical exercise physiology from Mississippi State University in 2012.
A dedicated member of the community, McDonald is actively involved in the Mississippi Occupational Therapy Association and Pinelake Church. She has also volunteered her time with Madison Ridgeland Youth Softball Club (recreational league softball), demonstrating her commitment to making a positive impact beyond the classroom.
In her spare time, McDonald enjoys reading, designing artwork and spending time outdoors with her dog. She is married to James McDonald and is the daughter of Johnny and Libby Jones and Darryl and Pam Wilkins.
Holmes is thrilled to have McDonald join the team and looks forward to the expertise and enthusiasm she brings to the OTA Program.
“I am so excited to bring on Monica McDonald, COTA/L as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator of the OTA Program,” said OTA Program Director Erica Fitzhugh, COTA/L. “Through previous work experiences, I have witnessed Monica’s expertise and enthusiasm for occupational therapy as well as teaching and I know she will be a great addition. I look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make here within the program.
