Metro Legal Professionals Association taps Dozier as president

Darleen Dozier, Holmes Community College Paralegal Technology program coordinator/instructor on the Ridgeland Campus, was sworn in as President of the Metro Legal Professionals Association on April 26.

Dozier is the faculty advisor for the Holmes Association of Legal Students (HALS), and for six years in a row, has had Paralegal Technology students of hers honored by the Mississippi Paralegal Association (MPA) for placing in the Student Essay Contest. HALS members are involved in professional and community service activities on a national, state, and local level.

Before coming to Holmes in 2006, Dozier taught in the paralegal program at Hinds Community College for 15 years. She was simultaneously employed by Brunini Law Firm for 20 years, working in the area of oil and gas law, litigation, and collections. Dozier has served on the boards and committees for national and statewide paralegal organizations, and she currently speaks on various topics for the National Association of Legal Assistants. She received the 2007 Mississippi Paralegal Association Pro Bono Award in recognition of her volunteer work and community involvement.

Dozier earned a bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1988, the designation as a Certified Paralegal (CP) through NALA in 1990, and Advanced Certified Paralegal (ACP) from NALA in 2013.  She received a M.S.S. degree from Mississippi College in 1998.
