Nursing students participate in St. Dominic Wellness Fest
The 47 Holmes Community College Ridgeland Campus freshmen Associate Degree Nursing (AND) students participated in the 17th Annual St. Dominic Senior Wellness Fest on Sept. 22. Held at Mississippi Trade Mart, the annual event is one of Mississippi's largest senior events of the year. This year's event, titled "Wellness Under the Big Top," featured many senior service vendors, entertainment and free screenings, all with a circus theme.
Screenings included cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, hearing, vision, functional reach, glaucoma, urinalysis and bone density. Shots and vaccinations, including flu, pneumonia, shingles and tetanus/pertussis, were also available, as well as an opportunity for participants to have fun. The event included a live band, giveaways, door prizes, and lunch. The Holmes nursing students assisted in administering a number of the screenings, while also assisting with greeting participants, handing out giveaway and goodie bags, manning the door prize booth, running the popcorn station, and preparing the sac lunches.
